Shrewsbury Business Chamber is urging members and the town’s business community to participate in Shropshire Council’s consultation concerning the provision of a new traveller’s site.
The temporary site is proposed at Battlefield Link Road on the north-western side of the town.
A Chamber spokesman said ”there have been many incidents over the years caused by the travelling community using land on the business parks and industrial estates for unauthorised purposes. Whilst not specifically supporting this location we are pleased to see that Shropshire Council are addressing this problem by suggesting a dedicated site for travellers use. This echoes the concern that we expressed in respect of this issue in the recent submission for the Local Plan Review.’’
Shropshire Council are seeking opinion as to whether the proposed size and location of the site is appropriate. Full details can be examined at www.shropshire.gov.uk/getinvolved. The closing date for submissions is 30th November next.
