Shropshire Council Leader Lezley Picton joins Shrewsbury Businesses to discuss the future

On the 21st July from 3pm we will be welcoming the new leader of Shropshire Council Lezley Picton to speak to members at our next networking event.

Having become a Shropshire Councillor in 2017 and serving as portfolio holder for culture, leisure, waste and communications in former leader Councillor Nutting’s cabinet, she made history in May when she became the first ever female leader of Shropshire Council.

She now has an enormous task leading Shropshire out of the pandemic, whilst overseeing major projects the council has already been pursuing such as the future development of the North West Relief Road, development of Shrewsbury shopping centres and a future move out of Shirehall to new headquarters.

She will be speaking to members about what she has been doing in her first few months as leader and also her visions for the future of the town and the county. We welcome her thoughts on business related topics such as the formation of the Big Town Plan, the development of high speed broadband and plans to attract more businesses to Shropshire.

If you can’t attend the event, but have any questions that you would like to raise with Lezley, please email shrewsburybc.editor@gmail.com and we will ensure that these are passed on.
